Helping young people find their footing — and their voice.

Teenagers today face pressures that previous generations never encountered — constant social media comparison, exam stress, friendship dynamics, and the overwhelming challenge of figuring out who they are and where they are going. Teen life coaching gives your child a structured, confidential space to work through all of it.

Olive Pellington is a John Maxwell Team-certified life coach who spent over ten years working with young people in schools before dedicating herself to coaching full time. That background — real classroom experience combined with a proven coaching framework — means she builds rapport with teenagers quickly, including the most reluctant ones.

What teen life coaching involves

Sessions are one-to-one and built entirely around your teenager's specific challenges and goals. Through honest conversation, reflection exercises, and practical goal-setting, coaching helps young people identify what is holding them back, understand their own strengths, and take manageable steps towards the outcomes they want.

Common areas covered include:

  • Exam stress and academic pressure
  • Building confidence and self-esteem
  • Social relationships and peer dynamics
  • Identity and sense of self
  • Managing emotions and anxiety
  • Goal setting and future planning
  • Social media and digital wellbeing

What your teenager will gain

Young people who work with a life coach often describe feeling genuinely heard — sometimes for the first time. Over the course of sessions they develop the tools to handle difficult situations with greater calm, speak up for themselves, and approach their future with a clearer sense of direction.

  • Greater self-confidence and self-worth
  • Reduced exam stress and academic anxiety
  • Improved communication with parents, teachers, and peers
  • Clearer goals and the motivation to pursue them
  • Stronger emotional resilience that lasts well beyond coaching

Who it is for

Sessions are open to young people aged 13 to 19. Your teenager does not need to be in crisis to benefit — many come simply because they want a neutral space to think, someone outside the family to talk to, and support with decisions about their future.

Coaching works well for teenagers who:

  • Are struggling with exam stress or academic confidence
  • Feel anxious in social situations or at school
  • Have difficulty opening up to parents or teachers
  • Are going through significant change — a new school, a family transition, GCSEs or A-levels
  • Want clearer goals and more motivation for the future
  • Feel uncertain about who they are or what they want

What parents can expect

You will receive a brief progress update after each session — enough to keep you informed without breaking the confidentiality your child needs in order to speak openly. Confidentiality is what allows teenagers to engage honestly, and Olive takes it seriously.

If anything is disclosed that requires reporting to safeguarding services, Olive will always be transparent with you. This is rare, but it is important to be clear about it from the outset.

Olive is fully DBS checked. Sessions are available in person in Birmingham, by phone, or online — whichever works best for your family.
